Phantasy Star Online 2 Service Begins Today
In Japan, that is. Plus, wacky DLC costumes! 07.04.12 - 1:06 AM Remember how we recently mentioned that if all went well in Phantasy Star Online 2's open beta, that official services would begin sooner, rather than later? Well, the beta must have gone really well, because the game's PC version is fully launching... today! Technically the calendar date is tomorrow, July 4th, but let's face it, it's already the 4th in Japan. Service begins at 2PM JT, and to download the client and play is free; you can also make some in-game purchases using Arcs Cash. There is, however, a packaged version of PSO2 coming. On September 13th, a physical Premium Package will go on sale for 6279 yen, which includes an install disc, five unique weapons (via download code), plus a 'Mag Evolution Device' - and hopefully other items. (The mags were one of my favourite things about the original PSO.) To go with the full launch, have a new trailer and some pretty artwork. The newest screens in our gallery feature the various download costumes now available - we couldn't make these up if we tried. They range from 200 to 500 AC each. Finally, I've been asked by Creative Director Mike Salbato to share his insight on these screens: "OMFG you guys, that's totally Jetfire!" ...Thanks, Mike.
