Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut DLC Is Out... Next Week
Get a more coherent ending (we hope) to Shepard's story for free. 06.22.12 - 8:58 PM Just a month after Mass Effect 3 was released (and after all the ending drama), BioWare had announced that the game would this summer receive some free DLC that would expand on and clarify the game's ending(s). The Edmonton-based developer said next to nothing about this extended cut since then, not even at E3. As it turns out, the DLC is coming a lot sooner than we (or I) thought. In fact... it will be available next week. The DLC will not change the endings, but expand upon the existing ones in the game. To watch the content, players need only to start up a save before the second-to-last main mission of Mass Effect 3. (This is where you'll end up anyway if you play a save in which you'd already beaten the game.) North American and European fans will be able to download the extended cut next Tuesday, with the exception of European PS3 fans who need only wait until July 4th. As promised, the DLC is free, and will take up about 1.9 GB of space. To hear more on the DLC, below is an interview from the BioWare Blog, with the game's executive producer Casey Hudson, lead writer Mac Walters and community manager Jessica Merizan.
