Some combat and story tidbits.

A week (or so) after its initial reveal, the first real details of Tales of Xillia 2 come by way of Famitsu as usual. The characters shown at the game's announcement were the key characters Rudger (Ludgar?) and Elle. Elle, who is not actually playable in battle, is an 8 year old, a bit spoiled but still shy, who is travelling to Canaan where it is believed that any wish can be granted, and so she thinks she can help her father this way.
Elle meets Rudger in Trigraph, where he lives, and they travel to Canaan together. 20-year old Rudger lives with his brother, but the brother is often busy with work and so Rudger ends up taking care of the house, cooking, and looking after Lulu, the cat.
After the events of the first game, Liese Maxia and Elenpios are working towards truce but it's been difficult, and due to cultural differences there is still conflict. There is also a big-corporation in Trigraph, the Klanpios Company has their headquarters there in a huge building. They appear involved in a number of different fields, and Rudger dreams of working for them one day.
Gameplay-wise, it's possible to toggle between weapons while in battle. The game will also introduce Origin, an in-development next-gen tech which will allow users to perform magic and arts without killing spirits.

Tales of Xillia 2 for PS3 is slated for a Japanese release this winter.
