The Witcher Developer CD Projekt RED Announces Cyberpunk
As in, based on the pen-and-paper RPG called Cyberpunk. 05.30.12 - 11:41 PM CD Projekt RED held a summer conference this morning to announce a brand new title, called Cyberpunk. Based on Mike Pondsmith's pen-and-paper RPG system of the same name, Cyberpunk is aiming for a 'mature' audience, not entirely unlike that of CDPR's The Witcher series. The game is being developed by a new team at the Polish studio, made up of many of The Witcher's staff. Pondsmith himself was at the conference, and sounded very excited to have the developer working on a video game based on his system, given their work on The Witcher series. CD Projekt co-founder Marcin Iwinski says that the game will be a complex, non-linear story which players will follow through with characters of different classes, such as mercenaries and (surprise!) hackers, while making 'morally ambiguous' choices. In addition to yesterday's teaser image, CD Projekt released another piece of artwork for the game. On The Witcher front, the company also announced that the second title has surpassed sales of 1.7 million, and the Xbox 360 version will be releasing in Japan this August thanks to Spike Chunsoft. As well. The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition will be headed to the Mac platform sometime this fall.
