Report: 38 Studios And Big Huge Games Staff Laid Off
Amalur, we hardly knew ye.
05.24.12 - 4:34 PM

The Verge's gaming site, Polygon, is reporting that the minds behind the world of Amalur, 38 Studios, have laid off the entirety of their staff. This would also include the developers at Maryland-based developer Big Huge Games, which was purchased by 38 Studios in 2009. The company was backed by former MLB pitcher Curt Schilling, and featured the minds of R.A. Salvatore and Todd McFarlane contributing to their world.

While 38 Studios' Rhode Island development studio was working on the MMORPG code named Copernicus, the only released title from the company was Big Huge Games' Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. Whether or not these properties will see the light of day again with another company is uncertain.
