After opting several times to prolong the life of its online component, Atlus USA has finally decided to pull the plug on the Demon's Souls servers. The company announced yesterday that the PS3 action RPG's servers will go dark on May 31st, some two and a half years after the game's North American release.

Before the shutdown however, Atlus USA is asking fans to help determine the final world tendency. On May 1st and again on May 16th via the Atlus Faithful mailing list, players can vote each time on how they'd like to see the world tendency shift.

Demon's Souls' unexpected popularity compelled developer From Software to develop its sequel, Dark Souls, which publisher Namco Bandai released last fall on PS3 and Xbox 360. From recently announced a PC version of Dark Souls, slated for shelves and digital distribution this August.
