Blizzard Entertainment has announced that their upcoming Action-RPG Diablo III will see worldwide release on May 15. Unfortunately, though, per an earlier post on the Diablo III website, the game will not be launching with its PvP Arena, which will be patched into the game at a later date. The game is now available for pre-order on the game's official website via battle.net, or is also available for pre-order through Amazon.com.

The standard edition, available both digitally and in-stores, will retail at $59.99, while the retail Collector's Edition will be $99.99. Featuring a behind-the-scenes Blu-ray and DVD, soundtrack, artbook, USB drive with full versions of Diablo II and its expansion, and in-game content for World of Warcraft and StarCraft II, the CE is for the hardcore Blizzard fans.

Those who aren't looking for extra goodies, though, can sign up for the World of Warcraft Annual Pass by May 1st, and receive a free copy of Diablo III with their subscription alongside an exclusive mount in WoW and access to the Mists of Pandaria beta.

"After many years of hard work by our development team and months of beta testing by hundreds of thousands of dedicated players around the world, we’re now in the homestretch," said Mike Morhaime, CEO of Blizzard. "We look forward to putting the final polish on Diablo III over the next two months and delivering the ultimate action-RPG experience to gamers worldwide starting on May 15."
