Final Fantasy XIII-2's Battle System On Video
And a little more on chocobos and other random tidbits. 11.30.11 - 7:15 PM Final Fantasy XIII-2's battle system may look similar to FFXIII's, but it's seen a lot of tweaks and changes. Paradigm shifts are now instant, you get to execute QTE-like moves, and the interface changed a bit too. The 'Enhanced Battle System' video below is in As we know, you can race Chocobos in Final Fantasy XIII-2, and encounter them out on a field. Buy gysahl greens (and other goods) from the travelling merchant Chocolina, and throw them at a Chocobo in battle and you can attract one... except for the red birds. These guys actually run away at the sight of gysahl greens, and there's a suggestion that the red Chocobo might have its own side story. When riding a Chocobo, you won't get attacked by enemies. They can also serve as one of your monsters in battle, too. Besides Chocobos, the fields will also see various weather effects including sun, thunderstorm and sandstorms. When the weather changes, so too will the enemies and background music. The Live Trigger events allow you make conversation choices for Noel or Serah during cutscenes. Unlike games like Mass Effect where you just use analog stick to highlight your decision, in Final Fantasy XIII-2 you'll be using the face buttons to choose. Finally, if you're a huge fan of those giant Japanese game guides, two Final Fantasy XIII-2 Ultimania guides are planned. (Final Fantasy XIII had three of them.) The scenario ultimania and the battle ultimania will both release in Japan in late January.
