Nippon Ichi, ClaDun Developers Have A PS3 Action RPG In The Works
Introducing Labyrinth Tower: Legacista.
11.22.11 - 3:15 AM

Classic Dungeon (ClaDun) developer System Prisma and publisher Nippon Ichi Software have a new project in the works, according to Dengeki PlayStation. Titled Meikyuu Touru Regasista (Labyrinth Tower: Legacista), this PS3 'survival' action RPG is in 2D and has players explore a labyrinth, as you might have guessed from the title. Your protagonist is Alto Strator, who sets out to lift a curse from his sister who has been turned to stone. Other characters shown were witches, hunters... and a mascot character named Mr. Dungeon that looks like a bean sprout. One of the touted features is being able to switch between characters quickly.

Bean sprouts play an important role since they recover your HP. Before you enter a dungeon, filled with both enemies and puzzles, you can form a party of three. Characters will be from six different classes which determine their attacks (short and long range), resistances and so on. You'll come across giant monsters and traps - which can be used against these monsters by luring them in. You'll find all kinds of loot, too. Items like weapons and armour have a 'durability' stat - they'll weaken after using them, or break entirely if you lose all their durability. When you exit dungeons, these items will recover. Poison is the only ailment in the game, but there are several different types, each of which have a specific item to cure that type.

The main quest takes about 20-30 hours to complete, but there are extra dungeons and other things to do which are not essential to the story too. Events will be fully-voiced, and Nippon Ichi producer Shogo Kozakai hopes to have some crossovers in the game, much like the ClaDun games did. There'll also be a character edit mode which will support both high res and low-res edits if you prefer your characters extra pixelly. They would like to implement a feature where you can import images from your computer as well.

System Prisma began developing Legacista on the PS3 based on feedback from their ClaDun titles, hoping to broaden their audience this time. Nippon Ichi presient Souhei Niikawa would like this title to turn into a new series.

Labyrinth Tower: Legacista already has a Japanese release date of March 15th, priced at 7140 yen ($92.75 US).
