Cyanide Studios, a French development company who is also working on Of Orcs and Men and Confrontation, has an RPG based on HBO's popular TV series Game of Thrones and on George RR Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire books. Better yet, Martin himself is overseeing the story of this adaptation too. Atlus USA today officially announced that they will be publishing Game of Thrones in North America, as part of the title's worldwide release next year.

The action RPG allows you to choose from one of two original characters, both of whom are ex-Robert's Rebellion soldiers, to fight in the battle for control over the Seven Kingdoms. The developers promise lots of interaction with familiar areas and characters in Westeros, as well as learning more of its history. You'll be able to make important decisions and get to see how the world evolves based on these choices.

Also being introduced is an "active slowdown tactical combat engine" which slows down (but never stops) the action, so you have a chance to make a quick choice before the enemy retaliates. For a first (brief) look at the game you'll find the first 4 screens in our gallery below. Game of Thrones (PC, Playstation 3, Xbox 360) is due out early next year.
