With The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim just over two weeks away PC users will probably want to know if their machines can actually run the game. Bethesda announced the system requirements yesterday, which are as follows:

Recommended specs:

  • Windows 7/Vista/XP PC (32 or 64 bit)
  • Quad-core Intel or AMD CPU processor
  • 4GB of RAM
  • 6GB of HD space
  • DirectX 9.0c compatible NVIDIA or AMD ATI video card with 1GB of RAM (Nvidia GeForce GTX 260 or higher; ATI Radeon 4890 or higher).
  • DirectX compatible sound card
  • Internet connection (for Steam activation)

Minimum requirements:

  • Windows 7/Vista/XP PC (32 or 64 bit)
  • Dual core 2.0GHz or equivalent processor
  • 2GB of RAM
  • 6GB of HD Space
  • Direct X 9.0c compliant video card with 512 MB of RAM
  • DirectX compatible sound card
  • Internet

On the blog post Bethesda acknowledged the reactions to the game only needing 6 GB of space, saying it was due to compression optimization that they were able to accomplish with the Creation engine.
