Towards the end of the PlayStation's life cycle, a rather unique game called Ore no Shikabane wo Koete Yuke (Over My Dead Body) was released. The story went that a demon cursed you and your bloodline so your descendants will only live for two years. Luckily, the gods decided to give you a break and allowed your family to procreate with children from another family in the hopes of one day beating the demon.
The game itself is of the turn-based strategy/RPG variety. Each generation you'll control descendants of your previous characters who, as you might have guessed, don't live all that long. You'll be able to pass down weapons and other items for your kids to use - sort of similar to the Agarest series.
If that's piqued your interest, then you'll be able to get your hands on an import copy soon. Over My Dead Body has been undergoing a remake for the PSP and will be released in Japan on November 10th of this year. There's already a demo up on the Japanese PSN if you wanted to check it out. In fact, if you play that and beat it then you'll unlock an additional character named Momoka for when the full game is released.
