Back before E3, Sony announced Ruin, a game they described as a cross-platform (PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita) social action RPG. Not only can you choose your character class like so many RPGs, you can also create their domains, or lairs. You'll create and look after yours, but you can invade those of others too. Your lair will grow as your character levels, and you'll form relationships of both the friendly and hostile kind.

Looking after your lair includes not just determining its layout and aesthetics, but decorating it and outfitting it with relics as well. Because your lair can be invaded, you'll want to have both offensive and defensive setups inside your lair. The relics have an effect depending on their properties - and which room you leave it in. (The example given is a poison ivy trophy, which can grant poison damage to your weapons in the armoury, or to your monsters in the bestiary. (So far, lairs can have libraries too.)

Your lair also affects your character's appearance. This is used to determine what kinds of relics other players have, and you can challenge for these by betting one of your items. After 24 hours of invading each other's lairs, the player with the higher score wins both items.

Developed by Idle Minds and Sony San Diego, Ruin will make use of cloud saves so you can access your game from either your Vita or PS3. This unique title does not yet have a release window, but you can check out our gallery below in the meanwhile!
