Diablo III Finally In Closed Beta
Yes, apparently Blizzard is actually making progress on it. 09.22.11 - 7:42 PM Activision Blizzard's long-awaited PC RPG Diablo III really doesn't need an introduction. It's been in development for many years now and its release date has been continually pushed back and back. Blizzard isn't a company that would release a game that was not ready, so it's sure to be of a top-quality when it finally emerges. With the news of a closed beta, perhaps we can hope the game will be nearing a release. It's unlikely it will be released this year, but sometime in 2012 looks like a good estimate. Blizzard has had a 'family and friends only' beta running for a while now, but it's likely the closed beta invites will be extended to a much wider audience. Players lucky enough to take part will be able to experience the game's first act while playing as any of the five classes. Crafting and multiplayer mechanics will be ready to go too, along with all the usual stability and bug testing. Mike Morhaime, Blizzard's CEO, said that the closed beta is "an important milestone for us as we enter the final stages of development on Diablo III." Stay tuned for more news soon!
