Demon's Souls Servers To Stay Online Until 2012
Atlus is feeling generous, it seems. 09.22.11 - 4:58 PM With less than two weeks to go before the Namco Bandai-published Dark Souls hits stores, Atlus USA's previous date for shutting down predecessor Demon's Souls servers, which was to be sometime this October, was looming near. If you wanted to get some last-minute online action in though, turns out you have a lot more time than that. Atlus USA today announced that that it will continue to keep the servers up until 2012 for the two-year-old title. While admitting that the decision comes at a 'significant cost' to the company, Atlus noted its unique online components, the loyal fanbase, not to mention how successful the title has been, and they have some more events planned for those who stick around. Included in these are the Pure White and Pure Black World Tendency events, taking place around the holiday season, with more details to come. If you're like me and nearly shied away from this title because you thought the servers were going down soon, this comes as great news. (Of course, the game can still be played offline, but a lot of the fun comes in its online components.) Demon's Souls, a PS3-only title and a Greatest Hit, is currently $19.99 US.
