And a few more tidbits on time paradoxes and disc numbers.

Square Enix USA confirmed the North American release date for Final Fantasy XIII-2, announced last week at Tokyo Game Show. Not only that, but they announced that the DLC, talked about very briefly at the show, will follow the game overseas as well. Unfortunately, there was no mention of that Lightning ver. 2 PS3... not yet, anyway.
At TGS, you might recall that there were two trailers for the game - one for the PS3 and one for the Xbox 360 version of the game. The English versions, both below, are accompanied by Charice's version of the game's theme song, New World. We finally get to hear Lightning's nemesis Kaias speak, too, and watch the (possible) ramifications of time paradoxes. No one ever said time travel was easy.

Famitsu this week also detailed more of the story and gameplay. The time paradoxes are an important part of the game, both story and gameplay-wise, each paradox producing a different result. Lightning actually no longer exists in this world because of a paradox, in fact. Serah is the only one who remembers her being alive, while everyone else believes her dead as we already know. Snow believes Serah and goes off to find Lightning, but doesn't come back. Hope, meanwhile, looks different because he's 24 in XIII-2 and leads an Academy.
Noel is having a few memory lapses due to all the time travel. He's having trouble remembering if major events happened in his time or theirs. As we know, Noel is from the future, and so is Kaias, Lightning's enemy in Valhalla from the trailers. The other new character you see, Yuru, is connected to Kaias.
As you collect monsters, you'll come across rare ones who will simply show up less often, or be hard to actually capture. Monsters have 'difficulty' in battle too, meaning you can mess up while inputting commands, but they'll still attack - only they cause less damage in this case.
Xbox 360 players will also be relieved to hear that they won't have to get up off the couch in the middle of their playthrough: The game is to ship on only one disc, just like the PS3 version. Final Fantasy XIII-2 releases in North America on January 31st, 2012, and in Europe on February 3rd.
