Kingdom Hearts 3DS Game Mechanics And More
By "more" I mean a four minute video of gameplay from Famitsu!
09.17.11 - 9:47 PM

Some brand new footage of Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance premiered just recently at the Tokyo Game Show. The video, created by Famitsu editors, goes for about four minutes and features plenty of battles, a bit of dialogue, and an appearance by Neku from the Nintendo DS RPG The World Ends With You. Check it out below.

Along with the video, Tetsuya Nomura made some comments via the official Kingdom Hearts Twitter feed about some new mechanics that will be in the newest 3DS title of the series. He spoke in detail about three:

First up is a mechanic known as 'Free Flow Action.' By pressing the Y button, you can make Sora (or Riku) bounce off walls, grind down rails, swing around poles (as seen in the video), and various other environment-based moves. You can string these moves together in a combo and even throw in regular jumps or attacks in-between.

The second is called a 'Reality Shift.' Sometimes when you're attacking enemies they, or objects around them, will be highlighted. By pressing X and A at the same time you can perform special attacks on the lower screen.

Last up is the 'Dual Link.' During the game you will fight alongside demons called Dream Eaters. As you fight, a gauge will build up. Once filled you can perform team attacks with these Dream Eaters, similar to teaming up with Donald and Goofy for special attacks in previous titles in the series.

Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance doesn't yet have a release date anywhere, but we'll let you know as soon as it's revealed!
