Level-5's Ni no Kuni: Shiroki Sehai no Joou (Queen of the Holy White Ash) for the PS3 follows the same story as the DS Ni no Kuni, which saw release last year. The PS3 game, however, introduced new characters and maps. 13-year old Oliver, grieving his mother's death, sheds tears that falls onto a doll named Shizuku - a gift from his mother. In true Studio Ghibli fashion, Shizuku comes to life and reveals himself to be a fairy from the world of Ni no Kuni - an alternate world where it's possible for Oliver to revive his mother. In order to do so, he has to defeat Jabo, a threat to this world.

Some of the characters Oliver meets exist in both worlds, but as very different beings. In Oliver's world, Shelly is a frail blonde girl in Oliver's world, but is healthy and loves to sing in Ni no Kuni - where she's known as Maru. The neighbor's cat Frank is King Nyandahal the 14th of Goronul. Queen Kaura of Babanasia has an endless appetite in the alternate world - but in real life, Layla delivers your milk.

Oliver will also come across the titular character, Queen Reinas of Ash, who has been watching him and whose real form is a mystery. And then there are two more fairies, Pucci (sounds like one of those fake Italian brands...) and Nico. You'll encounter them in the Doton Forest - one of the PS3 game's new areas.

You'll be able to find a number of new screens and a couple of pieces of artwork in the (revamped) gallery below. Ni no Kuni for the PS3 releases in Japan on November 17th.
