The Witcher 2 Gets Version 2.0 Next Month
This isn't an Ultimate Witcher 2, this is a big, free update. 08.17.11 - 2:09 PM Polish developer CD Projekt RED didn't have to travel far to get to Germany for Gamescom and show off the Xbox 360 version of its latest title, The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. Since its PC release back in May, the developer has been releasing free DLC alongside the usual patches. The next update will be a more significant one. Some of the complaints from early in the game have been its sheer difficulty in the beginning, which wasn't exactly helped by a lack of a proper tutorial. Version 2.0 is going to address this and put in a better tutorial, and bring a few more additions to the game. Available will be a new difficulty, Dark Mode, which is similar to Insane Mode, but permits you to save. Arena Mode is an arena-style survival mode where you'll fight through waves of increasingly tougher enemies. There was mention of there being several tech tweaks too, but CDPR didn't expand on those. Version 2.0 will be a free, automatic upgrade which is to be available on September 29th. As with all other DLC and updates, Xbox 360 users can expect this update to be included in their version of The Witcher 2, which drops sometime in early 2012.
