Marvelous' Rune Factory 4, slated for the Nintendo 3DS, allows players the choice of a male main character, Lest, or a female named Frey. As the series is well known for a marriage system, you also get your choice of love interests no matter which protagonist you choose.
The elf Margaret, left, is a caring though serious. She plays music at a local restaurant... and apparently likes to remind customers to throw their garbage out properly. Vishnal is training as a steward, and is quite gullible. However, he left home after a disagreement with his parents.
What's new in Rune Factory 4 though, is you actually get to court your potential mates before marrying them. You'll get to go on dates - and if your character is in love with his or her date, he/she will say 'doki doki' (the sound of a heartbeat) to them. The game then gives you a better look at the two lovebirds playing the piano, or fishing. This is called the Doki Doki Zoom system.
