A Quick Update on Final Fantasy Tactics for iOS
Yes, it's another delay, but nothing to lose sleep over.

In May we reported that Square Enix had finally more or less dated the iOS version of the PSP version of the PSone classic, Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions, scheduled to release between "late June to mid July."

Since we're now right in the middle of that timeframe, we have a new update from the Square Enix DLG Facebook page in which the game's assistant producer Shiina... well:

I'm sorry

...apologizes for the game not being completed yet, and alludes to a release later in July - possibly between July 20-29.

While not exactly much of a delay, Shiina does seem quite sorry for it. He went on to answer some fan questions about the game:

- The slowdown problem plaguing the game has been fixed, which we'll see soon in video form.
- There will be separate iPhone/iPod touch and iPad versions (which is standard fare when Square Enix DOES release an iPad version). The iPad release is expected to arrive a month after the iPhone/iPod touch version.
- The game will run on the iPhone 3GS, but was performing too slow on the iPhone 3G (the 2008 model) to support it.
- There will be no multiplayer capabilities, and so far there's no plans for add-on/DLC content.

Finally, Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions will support one of the most important mobile features: Auto-save. For a game that can easily last over 100 hours, it's nice to know a random phone call won't cause you to lose any progress.
