But not until next year.

Early this morning (in what I believe to be a conspiracy for actual E3 show goers), Atlus USA announced that they would be bringing Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 to the Nintendo DS in 2012. A hybrid RPG/SRPG, where battles on an SRPG grid are played out with a more traditional battle system, the original title was popular with RPG fans, garnering an 85% review from our own Sam Hansen. The second game follows a similar story to the first, but instead of players having a demon summoning COMP device, they have access to a website that predicts people's deaths, and the main characters must use it to save others, themselves, and ultimately, the world.
The new title also offers a social link system akin to Persona 3 and 4, giving players access to rewards as they get to better know their party members. These relationships are important, as, akin to Fire Emblem, death of a human character is permanent. Decisions might cost you the life of a friend. As well, demon summoning, fusing, auctioning, and just about everything short of demon dating that the series is known for is available in this second title.
"Devil Survivor 2 continues the successful marriage of RPG and strategy RPG gameplay elements introduced in the acclaimed original title," Aram Jabbari, Manager of PR and Sales at Atlus stated. "With an all new story and cast, an expanded roster of demons to manage, vastly expanded party interaction, an all new soundtrack from composer Kenji Ito (SaGa series), plus a host of refinements and improvements over its predecessor, Devil Survivor 2 doesn't simply deliver more of the same-it delivers more and better, exactly what we believe a good sequel should."
