Pokedex 3D Launches With The Nintendo 3DS eShop In North America
Gotta download 'em all!

Pokémon is already coming to the 3DS, but not in the form you're expecting. Nintendo has announced that when the Nintendo 3DS eShop goes live on June 6th in North America, Pokédex 3D will be available as a free download.

The application will include over 150 Pokémon from the Unova region of Pokémon Black & White. Each Pokédex entry features a rotatable 3D model of the Pokémon, a statistical analysis, and a movelist. Only 16 Pokédex entries will be available at first, but players can unlock more entries in three ways: scanning QR codes, exchanging Streetpass data with friends, and using Spotpass to download up to three Pokémon per day. Most exciting, perhaps, is that the application will make use of the 3DS's cameras in conjunction with AR cards to bring Pokémon into our world for the first time. Could this be a sign of things to come for the Pokémon franchise?
