Apparently, he didn't object hard enough.

Recently, Japanese film director Takashi Miike had alluded to a film project that was 'a court drama based on a Nintendo DS title' (and that in fact this project wouldn't be full of blood and gore). From that, speculation began that this film must be based on the Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney series.

The speculation wasn't so far off at all. Capcom officially announced that a live-action Phoenix Wright film is indeed in the works over in Japan. Production is being taken care of by Nippon Television Network Corporation. Phoenix will be played by Hiroki Narimiya, while Miles Edgeworth, his rival and the other star of the Ace Attorney games, will be protrayed by Takumi Saito. Mirei Kiritani will play the role of Phoenix's assistant, Maya Fey. The director, of course, is Miike, known for the Crows Zero and Thirteen Assassins films.

Currently, the film's target release date is spring 2012 in Toho Cinemas in Japan.
