Earlier this afternoon, Activision Blizzard held its Q1 2011 earnings call, and amidst the Call of Duty talk they also had a few things to say about the long-awaited Diablo III. Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime revealed that the title had entered a closed beta last week, and that an external beta is planned for sometime during the third quarter of 2011. (If a calendar is too far away, Q3 is the period between July 1st and September 30th.)
He also went on to say that although they would like for Diablo III to hit the shelves this year, quality is most important - so the PC title still does not yet have a release window. The company did, however, state that if there is no Blizzard title released in 2011, we can expect at least two Blizzard releases in 2012.
