Square Enix Teases New iOS & Android Title
When a game reveal lacks even a name, that's when you know we're being teased. 04.15.11 - 9:14 PM Square Enix's mobile efforts in recent years have been a combination of ports like Secret of Mana, and original titles like Chaos Rings. Now, the company has a teaser site online for a new title, this one being developed for all iOS devices - iPhone, iPod touch, iPad - as well as Android devices. Poking through the teaser site's source code reveals the game to be a single player affair with a genre of 'adventure game book,' which could be interpreted as a graphic adventure, visual novel or maybe something else entirely. As for the portion of the game's staff that's been revealed, we know that scenario writer Souki Tsukishima previously worked on an adventure game called Root Double: Before Crime * After Days. Planning and production is credited to Shinji Hashimoto, who has held producer and executive producer on several Square Enix titles, notably many Kingdom Hearts and mainline Final Fantasy games. Finally, Motomu Toriyama has been scenario writer or director of multiple high-profile titles at the company, including Final Fantasy XIII, both Dissidia games, The World Ends With You and Racing Lagoon. So we know the talent that's behind this game, which is nice, but none of the other more mundane details, like, say, the game's name, or expected release. But hopefully we'll know soon! Things move quickly in the mobile world, and when we know more, so will you.
