Hyperdimension Neptunia Gets A Sequel
And while portable-themed, it's not actually on a handheld system. Huh? 04.12.11 - 7:09 PM Chou Jigen Game Neptune was an RPG themed around gaming consoles and hardware that recently saw its overseas release under the name Hyperdimension Neptunia. And after Compile Heart opened a teaser site a couple of weeks ago, its sequel, Chou Jigen Game Neptune mk-II was made official. As many of us guessed by its original codename, NPG, it's got a portable theme going for it. But it's not actually going to be a handheld title. Like the original, this one will be a PlayStation 3 title. Dengeki PlayStation had the preliminary details this week, including some main characters: Purple Sister Nepgear (get it? NPG?), Black Sister Uni and White Sister Rom & Ram. Rom & Ram are twins, with Rom having blue hair and pink eyes and Ram being just the opposite, with pink hair and blue eyes. Whereas Rom has a tendency to rush into battle, Ram is more reserved and quiet. The sequel will include improved graphics and up to four members in battle, and with the Lily System you'll be able to pair two characters. There is also some focus on Mintsubu which is the Japanese word for 'tweeting,' or Twitter. Just like much of real life, everyone in Neptune mk-II is into tweeting, or Mintsubu. Its users will have avatars, a lot of which look like existing video game characters like Mario, Luigi and El Shaddai as depicted by the magazine. Neptune mk-II's scenario writer is Natsumi Iwasaki. Its release so far looks to be late summer in Japan, and Compile Heart will offer both a regular edition for 7329 yen ($87.61 US) and a special edition for 9429 yen ($112.72 US). The teaser site's countdown runs out in the next couple of days, so expect more details later in the week.
