Another Layton-esque adventure, his time from Namco Bandai.

If Konami's upcoming Professor Layton-inspired graphic adventure title isn't enough to satisfy your visual adventure needs, Namco Bandai has you covered with their newly-announced DS title, Treasure Report: The Mechanized Legacy.

Treasure Report will have players following investigating and solving puzzles as reporter John Evans, as he seeks the fortune of a wealthy man (though it seems many other people are seeking the exact same thing). This wealthy man, of course, hid his fortune behind a maze of puzzles and riddles, to prevent just anyone from finding it. John is joined by camerawoman Emily Smith, a boy named Nino and his dog Poochie. No, it's probably not THAT Poochie.

Gameplay is divided into two main areas: investigating and puzzle-solving, both of which use the DS's touch screen to interact with. So far, some puzzles have been described, such as one reminiscent of the letter lock in The Da Vinci Code.

The game has some particularly noteworthy people working on it. The scenario - that's aimed at adults - is being handled by writer Yukinori Kitajima (who has worked on Okamiden and visual novel 428) The game's music is being handled by composer Yasunori Mitsuda, of Chrono Trigger and Xenogears fame. Character designs, seen below, are being handled by Gurihiru Studios.

Treasure Report: The Mechanized Legacy is due for release in Japan on May 20th.
