The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim First Details
And a first screenshot.

If you weren't overly distracted by the Mass Effect 3 announcement back at the VGAs in December, you probably recall that The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was announced the same night. (If you didn't actually see the show, here's a little reminder.) Game Informer had the latest details on the follow-up to Oblivion, although they're mostly tech-related so far.

Instead of re-using its Gamebryo engine (Fallout 3, Oblivion), Bethesda went with a new engine called Creation for Skyrim, which should improve lighting and draw distances. The game will also have improved, realistic graphics when it comes to environment and weather. As well, the game's world will no longer be frozen in place when you go to talk to another character.

There is also a 'Radiant Story' (no, this has nothing to do with Radiata Stories or Radiant Historia, sorry!) in place: Sidequests this time around are more personalized depending on your character: where you are, who you've interacted with and what skills your character has. Previously, the offered quests were only location-based.

Lastly, while there isn't much to see besides the aforementioned announcement trailer, we do have one lone screenshot so far:

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (PlayStation 3, PC, and Xbox 360) is currently dated for November 11th of this year. Keep checking back with RPGFan for more details on this latest installment in The Elder Scrolls.
