Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance Gets An Official Name
Even for a JRPG, that's pretty long. UPDATE - Trailer Added!
01.18.11 - 12:25 PM

If you thought that Square Enix's 1st Production Department event was going to be entirely about Final Fantasy XIII spin-offs, you were wrong. At the event, there were a few minor announcements made about the upcoming entry in the ridiculously popular Kingdom Hearts series. As previously reported, the next Kingdom Hearts game will be available on Nintendo's upcoming 3DS handheld console. Now, this entry has an official name: Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance. As I'm sure everyone has noticed, the subtitle has three "D"s in it. Clever.

There were also a few comments made regarding gameplay for the title at the event. Both Sora and Riku, heroes of previous installments in the franchise, will be playable characters, with the player regularly switching between the two. It is also reported that the game's 3D capabilities will allow the player a greater sense of distance when falling or flying.

Of course, no announcements have been made regarding North American or European release for Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance at this time. No release date has been formally announced for Japan yet either, but keep checking in for further updates.

UPDATE: Meanwhile, here's a trailer:
