A First Look At Konami's New 3DS Title
Meet Doctor Lautrec and his young companion. 12.18.10 - 11:04 PM Konami's newest IP, which will make its debut on the Nintendo 3DS, involves a professional in a top hat attempting to solve mysteries while being accompanied by a young understudy. No, the company did not buy Level-5 nor did they take over any publishing rights for their popular Professor Layton series. Doctor Lautrec and the Forgotten Knights is a brand new series, which so far has already drawn several Layton comparisons. Meet Doctor Jean Pierre Lautrec, a 19th century Parisian archeologist who is appropriately employed by a museum. (Please tell me he's employed by the Louvre - that would be awesome.) The witty genius is accompanied by a pet monkey, Kiki, and a university student named Sophie Coubertin, whom he met at the museum. The adorable Sophie can easily catch the attention of many a male, but doesn't really show any interest in return. For a first look at the game, check out the gallery below. Doctor Lautrec and the Forgotten Knights' gameplay consists of a few main components: events, battles, exploration and conversations. In the screens you'll see the trio exploring caves, with a map on the 3DS' bottom screen. You can use at least three types of spirits in battle - human, bird and beast. The game's official site is also linked below. Konami plans to release the title in spring 2011, at least in Japan - so far making it the company's first 3DS title.
