It might be time to resurrect your old account... again...

Though Square Enix did not throw a FanFest/VanaFest at all for 2009, they did sneak in VanaFest 2010 in Japan. The event took place this past weekend, and all the details have now been revealed, in English, on the Final Fantasy XI official site. Here are the details:
1. For the past six years, the level cap was set to 75. Starting this summer, Square Enix will slowly bump up the level cap until it eventually reaches level 99. New zones with higher-level enemies will be released alongside each level cap increase to help players along their journey.
2. Three more "add-on" expansions have been announced. The previous three were the story-based A Crystalline Prophecy, A Moogle Kupo d'Etat, and A Shantotto Ascension add-ons. This time, the three add-ons will focus on battles instead of plot. All three expansions take place in a parallel universe called "Abyssea." The expansions are entitled Vision of Abyssea, Heroes of Abyssea, and Scars of Abyssea.
3. Multiple job enhancements were announced for the mid-March update, including (finally) the announcement of two new Avatars for the Summoner class: Odin and Alexander (both from the Treasures of Aht Urhgan expansion). However, these Avatars will be special-use Avatars that can only come out during the activation of the 2-hour ability "Astral Flow."
4. The Wings of the Goddess expansion will have its story completed, not in the March update, but instead in the following update later this summer. The end of the expansion's plot will bring about a new endgame zone called the "Walk of Echoes." Expect a disturbingly thorough review from RPGFan for Wings of the Goddess after said update takes place.
5. New Campaign scenarios were unveiled, alongside a new quest line entitled "Trial of the Magians," which will focus on enhancements for weapons and armor.
6. Servers that are considered "low-population" will be merged with other servers during the March update. Fairy, Kujata, Remora, Midgardsormr, Hades, Seraph, Garuda, and Pandemonium will all disappear as the characters on these servers are merged with other servers.
7. Finally, it was announced that dedicated Final Fantasy XI players are going to be getting a first-look at Final Fantasy XIV. Before the closed beta test occurs, Square Enix will be having a closed alpha test to randomly-chosen Final Fantasy XI players who registered for the Final Fantasy XIV beta.
