STING Soundtracks Update
Consider yourself "stung" by these PSP port enhanced soundtracks, plus two new ones.
12.04.10 - 9:38 PM

Between myself and Damian Thomas, we've managed to keep up on soundtracks from developer Sting on their "Dept Heaven" series. Shigeki Hayashi (and, sometimes, Minako Adachi) are loved by some, but Hayashi especially is being labeled a Sakuraba clone. One, for having lots of prog rock, and two, for being ridiculously repetitive with his themes. Apparently my critique wasn't outlandish, because though we disagree about some aspects of these soundtracks, Damian also sees the Hayashi-Sakuraba connection in full.

The four soundtracks reviewed today are:

Blaze Union (not yet out in the US)
Knights in the Nightmare (PSP version)
Yggdra Union (PSP version, Japanese two disc soundtrack)
Yggdra Unison (Nintendo DS spin-off title that you've probably not heard of before)

They vary in quality, but in terms of quantity (number of tracks per disc), they certainly pack it in tight.

Enjoy! If you're not overwhelmed by sameness, that is.

Next update, expect some new Gust releases, and if you're lucky, we'll hit up the NieR arranged soundtrack after that.
