A few days ago we announced Rune Factory Oceans, but now we finally get a better look at the game. The latest in Marvelous Entertainment's series, as you can guess by the title, lets you explore oceans on the back of a giant called Ymir.
As we mentioned back then, you will play as both a male and female character - the catch is, they're the same character. Azel and Sonia were each their own person (so to speak) in their own worlds, but they became mysteriously physically combined in Rune Factory Oceans' world. Still, you'll see the game from each individual perspective. Like the previous Rune Factory games, you can fall in love and get married, so how that pans out will be very interesting to see.
Ymir will take you almost anywhere in the ocean, he can even lift up sunken islands and ships. Many of your battles will be fought in real-time while travelling on his back, and you'll be able to upgrade your weapons (including hammers!) using items. And fret not, longtime fans - you'll still be able to farm on the newly-discovered lands.
And even though the game's announcement is three days old, Marvelous is already offering a bonus for early buyers in Japan. With Rune Factory Oceans you will get a drama CD, art and setting image collection, some illustrations from various illustrators and a sort of 'beginner's guide' to the series - all pictured below.
Finally, check out the game's first 8 screenshots in the gallery linked below. Rune Factory Oceans for both the PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii will be out in Japan on February 24th for 7140 yen.
