Final Fantasy XIV Free Trial Extended
Square Enix responds to the MMORPG's new inhabitants of Eorzea.
10.15.10 - 10:26 PM

Just weeks after the PC release of the highly-anticipated MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV, Square Enix has begun to respond to some criticisms and complaints from its players. They have a few things planned to address these issues, the first and most immediate one being an extension of the free trial period. All players will automatically receive a total free trial of 60 days, up from the previous 30, so long as they purchase or have purchased a character before October 25th.

Among the issues most often brought up by players were server load times, a lack of monsters, user interfaces as well as some others, and there will be a patch in late November to address some of these, while others will be looked after in a more major version update in mid- December. In a message from the Director, Nobuaki Komoto, he says that there will be a version update approximately every three months, but December's will be especially large-scale. The developers also intend to fix the search function, make changes to the menu, log window and chat, add some keyboard functions and adjust the targeting. A full list of these updates can be found here, since there are many planned.

So, if you're in Eorzea, be patient, and remember that the Final Fantasy XIV development team is still listening and responding to user feedback, so don't be afraid to pass some along!
