Announcing Langrisser Schwarz
The classic Strategy RPG is revived, as an Online title.

Remember the Langrisser series? You probably don't. If you played Warsong for the Sega Genesis as a kid, then you're familiar with the first game in the five-part series (we're not counting Langrisser Millennium for the Dreamcast, because that would just be wrong).

A new trailer surfaced on the Internet (you can watch it by checking the news source link below; thanks Siliconera!). The trailer briefly shows footage from the first five games, and then announces the revival of the series with Langrisser Schwarz. The trailer doesn't show any actual combat; only preliminary in-game renderings of the characters and plenty of concept art.

We don't know much about the game at this point. We do know that it will be an online PC title, likely retaining the Strategy RPG format of the series. It does not seem to involve the work of renowned artist Satoshi Urushihara, who did character design for the original five-part series. The game is being published by the Taiwanese company Gamania; we do not know whether original members of the now-defunct developer Masaya are part of the development of this new title. What we do know, however, is that veteran music composer Noriyuki Iwadare (Lunar, Grandia, and of course the Langrisser series) is doing at least some of the music. Iwadare did specify that he did not write the game's theme song, but that he has written new music for Langrisser Schwarz. (Partial source: Facebook. Thanks for bringing people together!)

We'll have more details on Langrisser Schwarz as they are revealed.
