I realize that headline isn't exactly the most descriptive, but I couldn't help myself. As a followup to Pat's earlier story about the sale on Tales of Monkey Island, there's been quite a bit going on with the series for iOS as well. This could get complicated, so try and keep up!
iPhone and iPod touch
Both The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition and Monkey Island 2 Special Edition: LeChuck's Revenge are now on sale for a mere $0.99. Yes, 99 cents! Both titles normally sell for $7.99, so this is a massive discount on the two games. In addition, Monkey Island 2 has been updated to support the Retina Display on the iPhone 4 and 4th generation iPod touch.
iPad
For whatever reason, Monkey Island 2 made its way to the iPad back in July before the original game. While gamers could play the iPhone version in pixel-doubled mode, many still have been wondering where the iPad-native Monkey Island was. As if on cue, LucasArts today released The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition for iPad, complete with the graphical and control enhancements made to its sequel on the device. Even better, both games are on sale for $4.99, a 50% discount off regular price.
In short: Monkey Island 1 & 2 are 99 cents for iPhone and iPod touch users, and $4.99 for iPad users. This sale likely won't last long, so if you're at all interested in either game, now is absolutely the time to buy. All of the above versions also have Lite (free) versions available to try out.
