Square Enix has laid out plans to entice adventurers into exploring both Vana'diel and Eorzea simultaneously, announcing that subscribers to both Final Fantasy XI and Final Fantasy XIV will receive several bonuses. Until January 2011, every PlayOnline account with an active FFXI content ID linked to an active FFXIV account will be discounted from $12.95 to $7.00. Additionally, all characters created on an eligible FFXIV account will begin the game with the exclusive, speed-enhancing Hermes' Shoes:
As promised, current FFXI subscribers will be able to transfer their character's name to FFXIV. Since residents of Eorzea go by two names, the FFXIV character's given name will match that of the FFXI character, while the surname will be the player's server in FFXI.

Finally, despite rumors of the Xbox 360 version of FFXIV being cancelled, producer Hiromichi Tanaka told reporters that the game's development is merely "paused". He cited Xbox Live as the wall preventing progress, and said that talks with Microsoft are still underway.
