Deus Ex: Human Revolution Screenshots Update + First Gameplay Trailer
Is that Gunther Hermann at the end??? 08.14.10 - 12:05 AM Square Enix's highly anticipated revival of the Deus Ex series, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, looks to combine modern technology with the open-ended gameplay of the previous games in the series, and we are pleased to bring you a fresh new batch of screenshots for your perusal. The game looks to have a very cohesive and carefully designed aesthetic, and it absolutely smacks of Blade Runner (which is a wonderful thing). Even more exciting is the newest trailer from the game. Unlike previous trailers, this one is focused on gameplay, and judging from what's on display it looks like all the holdouts can breathe a sigh of relief—it's definitely Deus Ex. While there are no shots of a HUD or menus, the trailer shows off protagonist Adam Jensen engaging in a variety of activities. It begins with an exploration of the stealth aspects of the game, showing off silent kills, hiding behind cover, and infiltration abilities like seeing warm bodies through walls and Adam's hidden arm-mounted blades ala Assassin's Creed. Nonlethal kills appear to be present as well, with Adam sniping a foe using an aiming augmentation and what seems to be a tranquilizer bowgun. A full-on stealth camouflage ability is also briefly shown, so it looks like stealthy players will have tons of options at their disposal. The end of the trailer shows Adam taking the brute-force approach, demonstrating an explosive ability that takes out several enemies at once, a quick dodge roll, and some first-person shooting mechanics. Based on this trailer, it really looks like the developers have nailed the Deus Ex formula and are working hard to offer the amount of choice that was a hallmark for the series.
