Sands of Destruction Review
Are the sands of destruction eroding Masato Kato's credibility?

Masato Kato is considered, by some, a master storyteller in the world of RPGs. He worked as a script/scenario writer for Square for many years, including taking part in a variety of Final Fantasy titles and culminating in Chrono Cross. He then went on to help create the Baten Kaitos series -- which, for all its weaknesses, still has a very interesting plot and setting.

Kato's latest work is Sands of Destruction (World Destruction in Japan) for the DS. As usual, he teamed up with music composer Yasunori Mitsuda and a number of other "regulars" within his circle to develop what could've been an excellent RPG.

And, according to our senior reviewer Kyle Miller, the game unfortunately remains in the realm of "could've." Untapped potential and all that.
