E3: NIS America, D00D!
Oh, I bet you didn't think they had a booth... well, they don't, but we talked to them anyway. 06.16.10 - 5:48 PM You love NIS America. You're reading this website, of course you do, because that's our demographic. We had a chance to sit down with Nao Zook and Miki Ishizaka, the PR team for NIS America to chat about things that will be coming in the future for the niche publisher. The two titles that have been officially announced, Trinity Universe and Atelier Rorona, we don't have a whole great deal to tell you about. We got a chance to get our preview copy of Trinity Universe, so you can expect a hands-on preview of that title soon. We should see the same for Atelier Rorona later in the summer, so keep your eyes peeled for that. We did have confirmed that Trinity Universe will see its downloadable content come to North America, with a similar pricing structure to Cross Edge's DLC. Most importantly is what is coming in the future. Unfortunately, we're pretty handcuffed about what we can talk about here; NIS has a big press event every summer, so we can't give you the juicy details until then. However, we do have a couple of trickles of information there. NIS will be announcing another PS3 title at their summer event, one which longtime fans of some of the games NIS has localized will find to be especially tantalizing. What is it? You could probably make an educated guess and be right... but you might also be way off the point. Whatever this Action-RPG may be, it will be slated for an early 2011 release. Also to be announced is a handheld title that NIS tells us should appeal directly to the hardcore crowd, that being you, our readership. We don't have details other than that, but maybe if you liked Atlus' 3D Dot Game Heroes, you'll find something to love here. Also to be announced is a game that hasn't been approved quite yet by the console manufacturer, but I will say this: it's not an RPG. I can't say more. NIS Japan posted a loss in profit last year, lower than expected. Fans of NIS America have no need to worry about their US-based publisher going anywhere, no matter what happens in Japan. We do have some inklings of news out of Japan, and if you thought that I was vague with the last news, I have almost no information here. What I do have, however, is knowledge that one title is a bombshell, straight out of NIS, that longtime fans of NIS franchises will enjoy. This title won't be announced in Japan until around September, so we have almost no details, but NIS has mentioned their focus on the PlayStation platforms. As well, there is another game that is still in its concept stages, and we've been told it will be "completely different" from what many NIS fans may expect. We will have more information on all of these titles as they become available, and expect a review of Trinity Universe soon!
