06.12.10 - 2:36 AM

A press release sent by independent developer Zeboyd Games today heralded the upcoming release of Cthulhu Saves The World on the Xbox Live Indie Games platform. As the spiritual successor to Breath of Death VII, the new title features updated 16-bit graphics (with parallax scrolling!), a new "insanity" battle mechanic, portable save points, and more, all in addition to features from the original game.

Cthulhu Saves The World will feature seven unique playable characters, which are described by the press release as follows:

"Umi, the beautiful heroine with an unhealthy obsession with the ocean, Sharpe, the sentient floating sword, October, the cute necromancer, Paws, the alien cat, Dacre, a senile old man, Ember, the dark dragon, and of course, Cthulhu, from the classic horror of H.P. Lovecraft!"

The game promises a six to ten hour quest, multiple difficulty levels, and extra gameplay modes like Highlander and Score Attack. It is currently scheduled to release in August 2010, and will cost 240 MS points ($3).
