New Xenoblade Systems Detailed
The Wii RPG becomes more involved by the day!
05.28.10 - 11:22 PM

A recent update to the Xenoblade website has revealed a variety of new gameplay in the upcoming Wii RPG from Nintendo and Monolithsoft. The update is split into two parts: "kizuna," translated as "bonds", and "yarikomi," a term used to describe a game's extended content. The Kizuna system allows players to form connections with party members and NPCs. These connections are displayed in a "kizunagram," a diagram of the relationships you foster throughout the game. Players are able to undertake quests in order to build the relationships, and after reaching certain conditions will be shown a hidden scene with the character in question.

The Yarikomi system includes Play Awards, the Collepedia, and City Building. Play Awards, similar to Xbox's Achievements or PlayStation's Trophies, are rewarded to the player upon completion of specific tasks, events, and conditions. The Collepedia displays "Collection Items" that players have come across during their journeys. City Building, the most self-explanatory of the bunch, allows players to rebuild a city that is destroyed during an event in the game. Players will use items and money to upgrade various buildings in order to aid the growth of the city's population.

Xenoblade will be available in Japan on June 10th, and in America some time later this year.
