When Square Enix announced last month that Final Fantasy IX was on its way to the Japanese PlayStation Network, fans here were left waiting with bated breath for news of a US release. Now, thanks to a recent post on the official PlayStation Blog, those fans will wait no longer as Final Fantasy IX has been confirmed for release on the U.S. PlayStation Network. No date or price were mentioned, but players can look forward to enjoying the last PSOne-era Final Fantasy some time "soon."

On the other side of the Pacific, Square Enix producer Shinji Hashimoto recently announced the next PSOne game due for re-release on PSN. After tallying the results of a poll posted on Twitter, Hashimoto revealed Threads of Fate, known as Dewprism in Japan, as the next stop on the PSN re-release train. No word yet on a price, date, or even North American release, but fans in Japan can expect to play Threads of Fate some time after Final Fantasy IX's Japanese PSN release on May 20th.
