New Dragon Quest IX Details Announced
02.23.09 - 11:43 AM

Square Enix unveiled a couple of new network-enabled features of its recently delayed DS title Dragon Quest IX. The ninth main series installment in the long-running RPG franchise will utilize the handheld platform's Wi-Fi connection to offer a daily updated list of items available for purchase in an in-game store. The item line-up will vary from player to player, meaning during multi-player mode, player A might be able to acquire an otherwise unobtainable item from the shop located in player B's world. Furthermore, the developers are planning to offer various items on special occasions such as Christmas. However, downloadable content won't be limited only to items. During the first year of the game's availability new quests will be released on a weekly basis.

Dragon Quest IX will be available in Japan on July 11th.
