Exactly one week prior to the Japanese release of Final Fantasy XIII, Square Enix has once again updated the highly anticipated game's official website.

Vanila's summon is a newcomer to the Final Fantasy series. Called Hecatoncheir, it backs up its master with powerful chain attacks. In driving mode, it transforms into a magic armor-like robot equipped with huge guns.

Today's update also introduces three new members of the Cocoon's government. Galenth Dysley is the leader of the Sanctum. Thanks to his strong desire to ensure the continued safety and peace of the Cocoon, he is a leader trusted by his people. Cid Raines is the commanding officer of a special commando unit. It doesn't patrol a specific sector of the Cocoon, but is called upon whenever a commando unit is needed. Unlike standard military units, Raines' troops can also rely on large airships as a means of transportation. Captain Rygdea is Raines' right-hand man. Despite his loose appearance, Rygdea is an upright man who has his doubts about PSICOM's activities.

Final Fantasy XIII will go on sale in Japan next week, on the 17th. Following the PlayStation 3-exclusive release in its home territory, the game will be available for both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in the US on March 9th.
