With only three more weeks to go until Final Fantasy XIII's release in Japan, Square Enix has revealed two interesting tidbits about its highly-anticipated RPG title. For one, Final Fantasy XIII is breaking with the series tradition of obtaining gil, i.e. Final Fantasy's version of in-game money, by defeating monsters. Instead, players will have to sell treasure chests or items to get their hands on cash. Also, characters will be able to carry multiple weapons.

The PlayStation 3 version of Final Fantasy XIII will hit Japanese retail store shelves on December 17th. It will carry a price tag of 9,240 yen ($104.17 US). The American multiplatform release is set to arrive March 9th.
