Dragon Quest IX Reviewed, Wins No Awards
James knows it's certainly not a bad game. But does it "wow" him? Not really.

You can't get much more "traditional" with your Traditional RPGs than the Dragon Quest series. I've had dreams of Torneko and/or Yangus starring in Fiddler on the Roof, singing "Traditiiiooooon! TRADITION!!"

And if you're into that, cool. I suspect, when an English version of Dragon Quest IX reaches us, many people will be into it.

But our import reviewer, James Clark? It wasn't enough for him to hand out our prestigious "editor's choice" award. Far from it. In terms of school grades, Dragon Quest IX earns something on the border of "B" and "B minus." Mr. Clark acknowledges that it's certainly an enjoyable game, but it doesn't even attempt to try anything new or exciting. And stagnancy can be a danger, particularly in this field of entertainment.

Is it madness, or completely rational logic, that leads James to his conclusions? Be sure to read his detailed review to learn more. Perhaps it will help you make an early decision on whether or not this will be part of your DS collection, when the time comes.
