Soundtracks Update: Prosecutors, Promos, and Puh...Others
I ran out of "P" words. 07.27.09 - 11:24 PM "Prosecutors? Surely you aren't talking about Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth?" Yes, yes I am. And don't call me Shirley. The Gyakuten Kenji OST (that's the Edgeworth game) features a full two discs of music. And yes, we have the review. Unfortunately, it may not live up to the greatness of past titles, at least in terms of the audio. "Promos? You mean Falcom promos?" Yes, yes I do! We have a review for Ys I&II Best Sound Collection (a promo CD that came with the PSP remake of the games in Japan). It includes a bunch of old tracks, and some new tracks for the new game. Be sure to check out the audio samples. Also included, a promo item for The Legend of Heroes VI ~ Sora no Kiseki trilogy. It's a bunch of theme songs. Nothing too special. But for what it's worth, we may be caught up again on our Falcom. Though there is that other Ys Chronicles promo CD... here's hoping they do a full soundtrack release for the PSP version... Speaking of full OSTs for a PSP version of a remade game: Persona! That's right. A full, two disc set of music for the PSP remake of the SMT spinoff that's seen plenty of success in its own right. The new PSP game features tons of new melodies, so the OST is definitely worthwhile. Finally, in promos, we have a review for a promo CD that came with Atelier Rorona. The CD came alongside a digipak artbook, and is entitled "Die Musikkiste des atelier." That's German. It means that Gust's Atelier series has totally awesome music. But you already knew that, didn't you? An oddball selection for today's update: the complete soundtrack for Sacred Blaze, which is Flight-Plan's newest Strategy RPG (import, PS2). It's another double-disc, so it's plenty of aural content to take in. Finally... and I want to make a big deal out of this... it has come to my attention (and has been in the back of my mind for many years now) that some of the oldest soundtrack reviews on this site are, to put it bluntly, piles of crap. I wrote most of them. They were three line reviews that said "oh, this is nice music, I sort of liked it... buy it at Anime Nation" (which no longer has a persistent stock of VGM). So those reviews have to go. Taking up the torch is Neal Chandran, who has written new reviews to replace my crap reviews on FITHOS LUSEC WECOS VINOSEC: Final Fantasy VIII (the orchestra CD) and Akumajou Dracula X: Nocturne in the Moonlight (that's Castlevania: Symphony of the Night to you uneducated gaijin). That's about all the more introducing I can do. Head to the soundtracks section for more. Preview for next update: The Dark Spire will take center stage, and we'll have more from some of our reviews staff and maybe a guest review to top it off!
