Atlus is working on a new Shin Megami Tensei game, titled Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey for the Nintendo DS. Set in the early 21st century, Strange Journey's story begins with the appearance of a hyperspace threatening to wipe out mankind and the entire world, in Antarctica. As mankind's last hope, the player is sent in to investigate and destroy the mysterious entity.

The game's protagonist is an elite mercenary of Japanese origin. His base of operations is a next-generation landing craft. The key to his mission's success is the so-called Demonica Suit. This highly sophisticated piece of equipment allows for the addition of various applications which improve the player's abilities.

More than 300 demons are set to appear in Strange Journey, the largest number of demons ever to appear in a Shin Megami Tensei title. Series veterans can apparently look forward to meeting many familiar faces. Two more series mainstays, i.e. demon conversations and fusions will also be back.

Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey will be available in Japan on October 8th for 6,279 yen ($66.85 USD).
